How to Clean My Ambria Blinds

Ambria blinds are a great  option in decorating your windows. They look good, they are quite functional, and they display a sense of privacy and comfort for your home or office. These types of blinds are now gaining ground on popularity, especially in urban and sunny areas where curtains are not really practical.

One main concern, however, is how to clean and maintain these types of blinds. Although blinds require less maintenance than curtains, eventually those blinds would accumulate too much dust and grime that you’ll have no choice but to clean them up. This article will give you an idea on just how to do that.

Ambria blinds come in many different designs and models. One of the most popular is ambria roman blinds. They are neat, efficient and ideal for modern establishments. This type of blinds, however, is also very tricky to clean up. These blinds have a very delicate nature, and are quite susceptible to mold and stains. Dust can also settle on those hard-to-reach places.

When cleaning your ambria roman blinds, you need a cleaning cloth, a shammy, or a duster. A small vacuum cleaner with small nozzles is also ideal. First you have to open up the blinds as much as possible. This will allow loose dust and dirt to fall off. If you need to bring the blinds down from the windows, do so. Give it a quick dust-off or vacuum before cleaning it with a cloth.

Dampen your cloth or shammy using a solution of water and detergent. Wring the cloth to take away the excess soapy water. Wipe each blind carefully and thoroughly, taking great care not to warp or bend it. Roman blinds are delicate, and some can have very thin blinds, so you have to be extra careful. One warped blind could really make the whole thing look ruined. If the blinds are very grimy, you may have to clean the blades a couple more times. When your cloth gets too dirty after a few turns, simply rewash it on your soapy water solution.

For those hard-to-reach areas, especially the topmost blinds and in-between knots, you could use a small fine-bristled brush. A thin toothbrush will be great as well. Avoid using brushes with very large bristles, as they may leave scratches on the blinds or damage the fibers of the knots. Brush the areas in a circular motion and only until the dirt is removed, then wipe with your wet cloth or shammy.

After cleaning, wipe the blinds dry using a dry sponge. You can use a blow dryer or a fan to dry the blinds more quickly. Be sure that you leave no watermarks on the blinds as they can be ghastly-looking and may even discolor the blinds.

Another thing to look out for when you maintain your ambria blinds are molds. They can be a real problem, especially if your blinds are made of wood, and especially in humid areas where there’s too much moisture in the air. If left untreated, they can ruin your blinds in no time.

You can use cleaning solutions specially made to remove molds and mildew. These solutions can be bought in hardware stores and home depots. When you clean your blinds, you can mix the solution along with your soapy water. You may have to clean more carefully than usual as the molds can leave a stain in your blinds. After cleaning and drying the blinds, you can spray anti-molding agents on your blinds as protection. These can also be bought in specialty shops.

How many times you clean your ambria blinds depends on where you live. If you live in the city, where there’s too much air pollution, you may have to clean the blinds at least once every couple of months. In very humid areas, where molds can be a real threat to your blinds, a preventive maintenance once every three months will do the job. Doing so will ensure you’ll have your blinds for many years to come.
